Chrome for Windows Updated, Now 30% Faster.

Google has released a new stable version of chrome for Windows, which runs Javascript 30% faster than the previous stable version.

They have also added features such as form-fill,  full screen mode, and the ability to remove thumbnails from the New Tab page. Now for the good news for Mac users. The latest builds for Mac are even faster than the new windows stable version. I ran the v8 benchmark and got a score of 2260 which edges out the windows stable score. Also the form-fill and thumbnail deletion features are also available in the chrome mac builds but the full screen feature has been disabled for some time.

Finally, a note on version numbers: we're referring to this as Chrome 2, but that's mainly a metric to help us keep track of changes internally. We don't give too much weight to version numbers and will continue to roll out useful updates as often as possible.

What this shows is that, google is committed to making chrome the best possible browser and they are movig fast and has no plans to slow down, which is great news for us consumers. Unlike most other google products, chrome is heavily promoted and the beta label was discarded in a few months. (Gmail has a beat tag after years). Also in V8 they have a javascript engine which is not held back by any legacy problems which results in a fast paced development.
