Nanobama: Candidate Portrait using Carbon Nano Tubes

This is one of those things that just make you go wow once you know more about it.These portraits are made of carbon nanotubes, and the pictures were taken using optical and electron microscopes. There are approximately 150 million carbon nanotubes in each portrait and each of the measure approximately half a millimiter. The person behind this is John Hart of University of Michigan. To nanobama website explains in detail how these are made. There is a flickr photoset of more of these microscopic Obama faces and you can visit nanobliss for visualizations of other small scale structures made of carbon nanotubes.
